This week is Thanksgiving and it is the perfect time for us to remember all of our blessings.
I cracked up recently when I saw a saying on Facebook that said something like, “Thanksgiving is the day we give thanks for all that we have. And the very next day, Black Friday, is when we try to get more.”
So funny, but sadly true.
However, we shouldn’t just remember all of our good fortune on a Thursday each November. We should be giving thanks several times every day!!!
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1Thessalonians 5:18
It’s also helpful to remember that there isn’t a single thing we have that didn’t come from God. This includes all of our stuff, family, friends and even our own bodies, minds and spirits.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Psalm 103:2
I sure don’t thank God enough, much less those who do so much for me, do you?
So, as we go through this next year, I hope you join me in making a concerted effort to identify something to be thankful for each day. There is a real possibility this will change our hearts, minds and attitudes!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
