Overwhelmed….

To say I’m a bit overwhelmed is just about the biggest understatement in the universe at the moment.  The world around me is collapsing catastrophically and all I can do is watch people hurt, mourn, deal with illness and fight for truth to win…all in a day’s time.

SIDE NOTE:  I am blessed with healthy children, a wonderful home, my husband’s job, great friends and a loving family!  Thank you, God!!  (Life tends to help us appreciate the things we take for granted when a few curve balls are thrown!)

Although I’m extremely grateful for my blessings, I am distressed by the amount of bad news I’ve been getting lately.

Unfortunately, I am powerless to change the circumstances and I REALLY hate feeling this way!  YIKES! Welcome to the roller coaster of life! Um, can I sit on the sidelines for a moment, please?

All of these situations have made me ask God why He allows so much pain and suffering in the world?

  1. Are you trying to kill us?

  2. Are you trying to tell us something?

  3. Are we supposed to learn something?

Whatever it is, can you please give us that neon sign with your answers?

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.” 1Corinthians 10:13

WHEW!  The point is that we may face many trials or temptations but God will give us a way out OR He will be our strength in our greatest time of need.

Lord, please help!

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. Psalm 34:17-20

Either way, I always feel a ton better when I place my hope and trust in God.  AND, it is imperative that we place the burdens of life on God because we are not strong enough to handle them.

In fact, over and over again, God tells us to place our lives in His hands so that we will not fear bad things happening, but trust Him to work it all out.  (NOT easy!)

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? Psalm 56:3-4

Sometimes we can’t change our situations, but we can change our attitudes by:

  1. Staying close to God through prayer and scripture.

  2. Diverting negative thoughts like ‘why me’ to ‘why not me’.

  3. Bearing in mind that God always wins.

  4. Remembering that death is only the beginning!

For nothing will be impossible with God. Luke 1:37

God doesn’t want us overwhelmed. He wants us to rely on HIM!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 23:17-18 – Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.
