If you’ve been reading GEM for the past three years, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve discussed at length the neon sign that I’m always asking God for…I’ve made this request A LOT, but I have never felt I’ve received it – until now.
WOOHOO!!!!
The story is that after looking back over the past few weeks, I began to notice a neon sign that started to blink really brightly at me several times. Took me a while to perceive what I was looking at, as I’m usually way busier than I should be and not focused on something other than myself, but I DID finally see it.
Of course, the two questions that I now ask myself are:
1. Did I really believe God would answer my prayer for the neon sign?
2. Will I follow God’s lead now that I’ve seen the sign?
Why, oh, why can’t life be a bowl of sunshine and a glass of wine? (Can’t tell I made that one up, can you??!!?!?!) Hee, hee!!
And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 28:1-2
The promise from God in the above scripture gives me great reason to trust and follow God.
I mean, come on, who wouldn’t trust and follow the One that was promising love, hope, peace, joy and blessings?!?!?!
I’d be crazy not to and so would you!
Recognizing the signs only can occur when we are in tune with God.
Making sure we are daily reading scripture, praying and following His commandments keeps us in God’s Will, thus allowing us the wisdom to see His Will.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26
Obviously, this is way easier said than done.
The answers to the above questions include:
1. Yes, I do believe that God will answer my prayers. However, I am also very aware that the answer might be yes, no, not now or do what I say and trust Me.
2. Yes, I intend to follow God. I am praying for His discernment and His Wisdom so that I’m not making the colossal mistake of selfishly creating my own agenda and consequently running down the wrong path.
I used the word intend above because I always have the best intentions, but not always the best actions. This is a daily battle that I have to work diligently to overcome…and I make no promises because again, I stink at life on a regular basis!!!
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
