Watching the news is pretty scary these days. Evil seems to be all around us and maybe even winning several of the battles. YIKES!
However, you do realize that the good guy wins in the end, right?
Let me assure you…He does.
And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Revelations 20:10
This is where the trust that I wrote about last week comes in.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:5-8
Focusing on the evil of the world is detrimental to our peace and to our faith. Instead, looking towards God and what we can do for Him ensures the gift of His peace that is beyond all understanding!!
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
Taking our eyes off of the Lord does not bode well for our tranquility and security. The moment we look away we tend to do the following:
Worry
Fear
Become disappointed
Convert to selfish habits
Anger easily
Commit sin
Jesus has already told us what happens in the end. He’s read us the last chapter and promises us of His triumph!!! This is great news.
Moreover, we have to realize that in the meantime wars will happen, plagues will come, evil will prevail for a while and God’s people will suffer…none of these things should be shockers.
Our attention should not be on the evil happenings, but on what WE SHOULD BE DOING FOR GOD in the interim.
Maybe we should be praying, helping others, singing, writing, working, speaking, hugging, and loving and so on. We each have a different purpose and it’s up to us to ask God what it is.
So, what is it that you can bring to the table for God’s Glory? What should YOU be doing in the meantime?!
Ask God to reveal His plan for your life. Ask God for His peace. Ask Jesus to focus your mind, body, soul and heart on HIM.
The bad guys always lose in the end. Don’t take my word…TRUST God on that one!!!
Some Wisdom for Today: Proverbs 12:20 – Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have joy.
