Stop the Comparisons!!!!

Last week’s blogs were all about taking the plunge to accomplish our life’s purpose no matter where we currently reside.  This week I would like to encourage us to stop one of the worst things we can do to sabotage our own personal journey…

COMPARING OURSELVES TO OTHERS!!!!

Unfortunately, we act like we are all supposed to be robots with different talents, but that work in the exact same way, with the same views, and with the same purpose – WRONG!

We are each made by the Master Creator to fulfill His Will and His Purpose in our lives.

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.  Colossians 1:16

Here’s something to ask ourselves:  If God can make each of us unique, shouldn’t we also allow it possible that God can make our purpose unique, too?

I sure think so.

Of course, there may be similarities to others throughout our lives, but we might also find people who are the polar opposite to our ideas, expectations or way of thinking.

None of these differences have to be necessarily good or bad – maybe, we are just different!

Nonetheless, I’ve come to realize that in the world we live in – different is usually synonymous with evil, scary, dangerous or unworthy.

What a waste of time to dwell on the judgment of others!!!

The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Being different is just…well, different.

Comparing ourselves to others usually makes us think that we are supposed to be like someone else or that we aren’t good enough made the way we are or worse…that we are BETTER THAN SOMEONE ELSE.

Measuring ourselves in human terms will never help us  become who God created us to be because God created us with a reason, focus and purpose that has Heaven’s intent and a Heavenly goal.

These purposes aren’t accepted by many of us because it doesn’t place us above others.  In fact, it puts us dead last in many cases and creates suffering in others.

But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? Romans 9:20-21

However, when we embrace our uniqueness, we open ourselves up to GOD’S POSSIBLILITIES.

Isn’t that what we all long for?

  1. A reason for living.

  2. A purpose to accomplish.

  3. A relationship with the Creator who leads us to life, through life and into the next life.

  4. A ‘well done’ at the end.

Distracting ourselves with daily comparisons will lead us not to action, but to demise.

Comparisons stifle our creative passions and make us feel bad for not being up to snuff in a world that says we have to be just like it.

Moreover, comparisons do more harm than good and usually leave us wishing for things that we don’t have.

Accomplishing our life’s purpose requires that we use our God-given gifts and talents for His Kingdom and for His benefit.  Plus, God has already equipped us to face life’s challenges and to achieve His plan.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

It’s also really helpful to remember that God knows the outcome already because He’s the Master Creator.  And His Will will be done with or without us.

The best part is that we have a choice to play an integral role during our lives or waste away in a world with no purpose, no joy and sadly, no peace.

So, stop comparing yourself to others!!!  Instead, become an essential piece to God’s Kingdom and BE WHO GOD CREATED YOU TO BE!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 16:4 – The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.
