As much as I hate the saying that “it’s all in our head” I must admit that it’s kind of true. Sigh. Hate it when that happens.
Think about it, though. Our thoughts determine our mood, our attitudes and most often our actions.
When we dwell on the dreary, dull and dumb stuff of life…we tend to find ourselves living in just that.
However, when we consider the beauty around us, the many blessings we have been bestowed and all of the many reasons to be thankful…we live in that beauty! I want to live in that beauty!
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8
I don’t know about you, but all too often my mind gets filled with the worries of life instead of a gratefulness to have this life.
Author Leon Brown said, “It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to has power over you.”
Isn’t that the truth?
When we fail to control the thoughts that go through our minds we will succumb to the confusion that comes with the chaos.
Furthermore, our actions are based on what’s between the ears and if those thoughts aren’t being filtered through Christ, you can bet your bippy that our actions will reflect the negativity.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…. 2Corinthians 10:5
I don’t want to live in a chaotic world. I want to live in confidence that Christ is my savior and that my life is worth something.
But who do you know that brought greatness to the world that lived in the dreary, dull, dumb stuff of life? I can’t think of a one!
To this point, I find it absolutely telling that when I looked in the thesaurus for “negativity” I found the following words:
unconstructiveness
unhelpfulness
disapproval
lack of enthusiasm
Aren’t those all the things we feel when we are allowing ourselves to live in a pessimistic world?
The short answer is CHANGE OUR ATTITUDE.
But the only way to do that is to push ourselves to think about the positive aspects of life.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
Don’t get me wrong. This is really hard to do by ourselves, but God can help in a big way!
How? You ask….
Ask for God’s Will in your life.
Ask for the peace of Christ.
Ask for His joy to live within you.
Ask to be filled with His Holy Spirit.
These four simple requests will change your attitude and change your life.
Try IT!!!
