I could use some help. What about you?
Besides the mental help I need, I have dreams of having a chauffeur, chef, cleaning crew and cocktail waitress at my beckon call. Ahh…a girl can hope, right?!?!
In reality, we each have loads of things in our lives that could improve, expand, develop or tweak; but often we place “those things” on the back burner because we’ve got it all under control…yea, right!
We are deluding ourselves if we continue to believe that garbage.
If you’ve ever read any of my GEMs you know that I’ve talked long and often about God and Jesus. However, I have failed to mention our Helper!!
No, He’s not a chauffeur, chef or cleaning crew, but He is the third piece to the Holy Trinity that is sent to us by God to teach, guide, comfort, counsel, convict and much, much more!! The Holy Spirit is better than Superman ever thought about being!!!
In fact, the Holy Spirit is an awesome and amazing gift from God JUST FOR US and He should not be overlooked.
The Advocate, as Jesus called Him, is sent to us by God to help us remember the teachings of Jesus Christ and testify about Jesus so that His Truth is within us.
Lord knows I need all the help I can get!!!
Between the duties of wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend and employee – I am stretched to the max and my capabilities are limited to what is humanly possible.
Okay, I just have to reiterate how cool I think it is that God sends us a HELPER!!! WOOHOO!!!
If we add being a disciple of Jesus Christ to our To Do List then we might as well quit while we are ahead.
The point is that we cannot live life without help.
When we take a long look at our lives we will recognize that we have nothing to do with…well, everything and most of that we sadly take for granted, i.e. water, air, rain, sunshine, food, animals, raw materials, trees, and so on. Once we see the Truth of who and what we are, we can then start depending on the One who is waiting for us to ask for His help!
It is not by our own resources, strength or wherewithal that anything in this world ever gets accomplished. It is truly by the Grace of God and the gift of the Holy Spirit that successful living is achieved.
More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5
Without God we are absolutely and ridiculously a body of worldly junk.
However, with God anything is possible.
Why then do we ever want or try to do anything without God in the forefront?
It’s most likely our ego that gets in the way and places ourselves in God’s seat instead of surrendering and following His lead. We are stiff-necked to say the least.
You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you. Acts 7:51
We “resist the Holy Spirit.” WOW and WHY?!?!
As we grow as Christ-followers we should be allowing the Holy Spirit to have more control of our decisions, behaviors, attitudes, words, actions and thoughts.
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment. John 16:7-8
Once we commit to following Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit guides us towards an eternal perspective versus the internal one that world continues to pursue.
The Holy Spirit leads us to RESPOND to God’s calling. (That means we have to take action, guys!!) AND, He helps us every step of the way!!!
Does the Truth live in you?
Some Wisdom for Today: Proverbs 9:10 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
