Integrity…a characteristic that we all believe we have, but very few of us do. Sigh.
Dictionary.com defines integrity as an adherence to moral and ethical principles, along with the soundness of moral character and honesty. Basically, I call it doing what we say we will do.
As a “big talker Betty Crocker” I am all too familiar with loudly claiming what I will and/or will not do, only to find that I should’ve kept my BIG MOUTH shut!
Strange how damaging words can be if not well thought out and calculated before they escape our trap!
On Sunday, my pastor asked the question, “Are you praying when you say you will?” and then asked another one just like it, “Are you living as you proclaim you do?”
Uh…. Well, it’s like this….
We all have our excuses, reasons and justifications. However, the fact remains that if we tell someone that we will do something, we best get on with it.
Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Ephesians 6:6
Life takes action. We can’t just be giving lip-service to God, family and work. We have to engage and take the steps necessary to accomplish our agenda, and more importantly, what is God’s purpose and intention for our life.
Is your life honorable or do you fake it more than not?
If you have trouble keeping it all together and working towards living as God wants us to; well, you are not alone.
The problem is that the world is watching our actions, our children are watching our actions and God is watching what we do with every moment He gives us.
We each have a limited time on earth. None of us know the time, day or hour that our lives will be completed. These two details should light a fire under our tushes to get us moving towards living as God intends for us to!!
Don’t freak out!! Walking with Godly integrity shouldn’t be overwhelming because for one, we aren’t doing it alone because God is helping us. For two, eating an elephant only happens with one bite at a time.
I completely get how hard taking action is…Lord knows that the “doing” part is really hard for me, but as Christians we have said that we believe in Jesus Christ.
If this belief is real, than we need to do what He asks us to do. We can start with His top two:
1. Love God.
2. Love our neighbors.
Time is of the essence. If you do nothing today, you might never get another chance.
Some Wisdom for Today: Proverbs 10:9 – Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.
