Do you ever feel like you just want to give in to temptation and sin? Man, oh man! I feel like the only person in the world who loves God, but wants to NOT follow Him sometimes. Argh!
What the heck is wrong with me?
I profess to love God and am thankful for His mercy through Jesus Christ and I keep committing the same sins OVER AND OVER! CRIMENEY!!!
The pitiful part is that once I start down the sinful road I get consumed by selfish desires and a load of guilt that bogs down my heart and my soul.
Sometimes my mantra becomes, “lead me not into temptation and deliver me from evil.” Moreover, that is not always enough!! Then I start begging for my desires to be HIS desires and not my own. However, by the end of the day – I’M RIGHT BACK WHERE I STARTED! Jeepers!!!
Am I the only one out there struggling with sin?!
I feel like Jacob wrestling with the God and I deserve a serious butt kicking!!
Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.”
I’m waiting for the time when I overcome my sinful ways and my selfish desires.
The idiotic truth is that I KNOW better. I’ve been taught well and I continue to lay my life at the feet of God. However, some days I snatch up my life, hold it close and walk away from the only One that matters and can make it better.
There is hope.
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. 1Timothy 1:15
The Apostle Paul didn’t say that he WAS the foremost; he said that he IS the foremost. Whew! Paul knew that his selfish desires would always get in the way! Guess I’m not alone after all!!
The truth is our righteous deeds or good intentions don’t get us forgiveness. God does.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Thank you, God!
I am sinful. BUT, I AM FORGIVEN – if I ask!
In reality, my best options are to keep praying and keep reading scripture – so that when I do mess up (there is no question about that) I will know what to do and who to go to!!! JESUS! JESUS! JESUS!
Sin will not win! Jesus promises us that HE has won and that we can depend on HIM! (John 16:33) YIPPEE!
I feel better already!! However, will you do me a favor, please? Pray for someone you think might be struggling, today. The power of prayer is amazing and can change someone’s life and put it back on the right path! THANKS!
Some Wisdom for Today: Proverbs 24:14 – Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.
