Having worked for an online retail store many moons ago, I still remember Christmas in July. As with any retailer, we had to have our Christmas collection selected, ordered and the catalog had to be complete in the beginning of every summer.
Do you know how hard it is to get into Christmas decorations when it’s 110 degrees outside? Well, let me just say it’s HARD.
However, this year, as July rounded the corner, I started to miss thinking about Christmas in July.
No, I’m not talking about fur coats, Christmas trees and decorations.
I’m remembering a sweet baby lying in a manger with a host of angels singing His praises.
It occurred to me that every day should be Christmas and on the days it’s not, it should be Easter.
I take the life and death of Jesus Christ for granted. I miss the point of His sacrifice and what it means to you and me.
He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 1John 2:2
Jesus Christ died for us.
Man – that never ceases to amaze me.
Some might think I’m a Jesus freak and to tell you the truth, they would be correct. Jesus saved me then and He saves me now. I thank Him daily because He and I both know HOW MUCH I need His grace!
Whew!!! (Don’t know about you, but I mess up A LOT!!!!)
It shames me and breaks my heart that Jesus came into this world to show us how to live and had to die for OUR sins…not His.
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, … Philippians 2:5-11
But, I thank God that Jesus did die. Only a God who loves us would be so generous to humble Himself so that WE could live. WOW!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
So, as you enjoy your holiday week, think about celebrating Christmas in July and every other day for that matter!!!
Some Wisdom for Today: Proverbs 6:23 – For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life.
