Another Year Gone By

Today marks three years since my beloved father-in-law’s passing.  I figured a blog wouldn’t do the anniversary of Martin’s death any justice, so I thought I would share a poem I wrote a few years ago that epitomizes Martin’s life.

I pray that my boys will lead a life as worthy of the one lived by their Grandaddy Spud.  I am truly blessed to be a part of his family.

The Head of the House
A father, a leader, the head of the house A friend of so many, a beloved spouse A man on a mission to bring all to Christ This hardworking believer finished quite nice He rallied so many to not give up on hope Those all around him were blessed when he spoke He suffered with grace and gave others joy A mind made for business, but played like a boy His family gathered and lend him their aid He assured up till death to not be afraid God’s in control of our destiny, alright His Son intercedes for the sake of our plight There’s no need for death to bring us such fear God’s Word speaks loud and perfectly clear Believe in the One that was sent here to save Jesus loves us and conquered the grave After suffering came glory for God’s only Son The lamb protects his sheep, each and every one Tears will be shed and it won’t be the same Grief and our sadness brings us no shame A bright star burnt out too early it seems But we’re ready to stand for what God’s will deems Now we will mourn and grieve his passing away Knowing he’s held by our Lord on this day We know in our hearts we will meet him once more He’ll welcome us gladly at Heaven’s grand door A wonderful day that will be in the end Worshiping the Almighty Father with Heavenly friends

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 14:32 – The wicked is overthrown through his evildoing, but the righteous finds refuge in his death.
