The boys and Grandmother Jan in the backseat
On Tuesday I discussed the importance of revisiting our 2014 goals and making an effort to accomplish as many as possible.
However, I failed to mention the probability of a change of plans…and oh, are there sometimes BIG changes in the plans we make!!
For example, if you had asked me four years ago whether or not my mom and mother-in-law would be spending months at a time in my home, I would have called you a liar and told you that I wasn’t equipped to handle more people in my house.
Guess what? Yep! You’ve got it.
I now have the great fortune of hanging out with two of my favorite women in the whole world on a regular basis! It’s an opportunity I never dreamed I would have, or that I would want.
But, God has changed me; given me the proper tools and even the desire to have these ladies live in our home for several months throughout the year. Crazy, I say!!!
This experience is one I never expected, but I’m so thankful to have.
Sure, there are complications that come along and problems that arise, but nothing like I would ever have imagined.
Daily, I look in the mirror and wonder what happened to the old Meg? Why am I being so nice and why am I happy about it?!?!?! True story….
Clearly, something has drastically changed in my life and it’s the fact that I now live for Christ and not as much for myself…although, I still do have plenty of bad days!!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2Corinthians 5:17
Answering the call to help someone else ALWAYS blesses the helper more! I have found this true over and over again in my life. When I finally say “yes” to God, He loads me up with more blessings than I could ever have asked for.
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2Corinthians 9:7
Don’t freak out…caring for others in your home may not be what God is calling YOU to do, but whatever He is calling you to do, I recommend you listen and accept His call. It’s SO WORTH IT!!!
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
You may not accomplish the plans you devised, but stepping up to God’s design will fill you with a satisfaction you will never be able to grasp on your own.
A change of plans can often turn your life into something more amazing and more rewarding.
Some Wisdom for Today: Proverbs 19:2 – Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.
