Here We Go…Again

How is it that I can desire something SO bad, but NOT follow through?  AND why is it easier to stand still or continue down the wrong path instead of changing a habit or jumping off the bandwagon? CRIMENY!!!

Sometimes it feels like the more I desire to do God’s Will, the more the devil gets in my way and allures me with something sparkly.  SQUIRREL!

Don’t know about you, but I have a list of bad habits and character flaws that I need to change, want to change and have even tried to change before.

But here I am again beating myself up, feeling like a failure and wanting to throw my hands up in the air and say, “I give up!”

Please tell me I’m not alone…crickets….

I can only imagine that God is shaking His head and waiting for me to look up…again.

It seems that even though I try and try, I have to consider once again that life is a journey and God is with us for the long haul throughout every mountain and valley we encounter.

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. James 1:12-14

I think we all too easily suppose that God will just give up on us and surrender us to our vices, sins and setbacks.  Not true.

The key to being content no matter where we are in our walk with Christ is to remember that God LOVES us despite our mistakes and missteps even after we’ve committed our lives to Him.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

It’s the world and the devil that attempt to convince us that we aren’t good enough and that we should even stop trying to please the Heavenly Father.

The truth is that God never tells us we have to be perfect.  He tells us we have to believe in His redemption and salvation through Jesus Christ.

And are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Romans 3:24-26

Of course, with our commitment to Christ, it is inevitable that we want to change our behaviors to emulate His life because of our love for Him.  However, this doesn’t mean we will ever match the perfection of Christ.

So, the next time you fail or sin, go to the Father for His Grace and leave the baggage behind.

Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago. Acts 3:19-21

Furthermore, if you see someone else fail, please don’t judge.  Our place in this world is to be different than it!!!

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.  John 16:33

Christ has already won the battle and so have we!!!  WOOHOO!

Now, get out there and try again!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 24:16 – For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.

In my Life Group last night, we discussed this very subject. We all have struggles with sin and most of the time it is not “accidental sin”, but planned and intentional. I hate that I am such a selfish creature, but sometimes I put my desires or my pride first. Many times, we view sin as not hurting anyone, but it is an offense to the Almighty. I have been trying to remind myself that in hopes that it will lose its appeal. Even Paul struggled with this(1 Timothy ,1:15, Romans 7:14-25) so I know that I have company. “(Romans 7:24) What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!”. Amen, Paul…. Amen.
