Dose of Daily Encouragement

God takes the impossibleA dear friend of mine recently sent me an article that discussed Learning to Pray.  The commentary gave some good and new ideas on how to start the day the best way possible and I thought you might be interested in the one prayer that stood out among them all!!

O Lord, grant that I may meet the coming day in peace.

Help me in all things to rely upon Your Holy Will.

In every hour of the day, reveal Your will to me.

Bless my dealings with all who surround me.

Teach me to treat all that comes to me throughout the day with peace of soul, and with the firm conviction that Your will governs all.

In all my deeds and words, guide my thoughts and feelings.

In unforeseen events, let me not forget that all are sent by You.

Teach me to act firmly and wisely, without embittering and embarrassing others.

Give me the strength to bear the fatigue of the coming day with all that it shall bring.

Direct my will.

Teach me to pray.

Pray Yourself in me.

Amen.

Who could use a dose of daily encouragement?  I sure could.

Starting the day with a conversation with God is the best way to face the day with confidence, humility, love and action.

We should give our Almighty Father the opportunity to lead us, therefore, allowing Him to direct our day instead of being led wherever our thoughts and actions take us.  Sigh.

Praying for God’s guidance places God at the helm and helps fulfill the purpose He has already given us (whether we know what that is or not).

Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Psalms 143:8

Obviously, morning isn’t the only chance we have to pray.  However, it is definitely the most important because we are beginning the day with God, which shows our love, trust and obedience.

It’s kind of like doing the right thing.  If we do the right thing first, we won’t have to deal with the negative consequences of the wrong thing.  Plus, we will stand firm that we did the right thing and aren’t trying to lie, hide or forget the bad stuff…funny how that works!

When we start the day with prayer, we are giving God the opening to bless us with His amazing gifts and live fully in His Will – which is the best place for us to be.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1Thessalonians 5:16-18

Praying is an easy way to start the day the right way.  Give it a try by using the prayer above and see your life change before your eyes!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 30:5 – Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
