Absence

IMG_0872This blog is probably one of the scariest I’ve ever written because I’m full of angst and worry about how I will be received after weeks of absence.  YIKES!!!

The basis of my fear is that GEM doesn’t matter in the lives of others and that I haven’t really been missed.  Sad, but true.

Regardless of whether or not GEM means something, isn’t this exactly how it feels every time we turn around and realize that we’ve been gliding through life without making God a priority.

Geez!!!  You’d think we would learn after all of these years!!!

However, if you are like me, life can get crazy and settling into a miserable rut doesn’t always mean that I’m including God in my little pity party.

The truth is that after weeks go by and we’ve stopped praying, stopped going to church or stopped placing God first…well, we have every reason to think  that God doesn’t care about us or that He’s too busy to miss us…because that’s exactly what we’ve done to Him.

Sigh.

Thankfully, God is unlike us selfish humans.

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?  Numbers 23:19

I think the verse above reminds us that we are the ones lacking in the equation of life, not God.

Unfortunately, we just don’t get it right most of the time.

Instead of praising Him for His love, mercy, forgiveness, protection, and all the many other things He gives us…we place the blame of everything that goes bad in our lives (aka. death, hardship, etc.) on God.

We wonder where God is when we are the ones who have been absent.

UGH!!!

So, as we travel this road towards the birth of Jesus Christ, let us remember that God is with us regardless of whether we are noticing His presence or not.

Don’t be absent.  Be present in His love every day and the fears, worries and anxiety or life will not seem as frightening.

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 8:17 – I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

I have been missing you, but I just thought that I was the busy one. See, sometimes I skip you even when you are right here on my computer! Does that mean we are both normal?? It was great to get my GEM today. Take care of yourself during this busy time of year. Your solo was wonderful on Sunday! Thanks, Meg!
