My November

IMG_0266November is my favorite month of the year because it’s my birthday month!!  WOOHOO!!!  Yep, I’m one of those people!

It is during this time of year that I find myself evaluating where I’ve been and where I want to go.  I don’t necessarily sit down and write my dreams, goals, and objectives (I do that in January), but I do really think about the good, bad, and ugly of Meg.

I can only hope and pray that there’s more good than bad and ugly!!!!  It depends on the year…sigh.

This year I will have been alive for 43 years and it’s getting more and more important as the years go by to make each year count for something.  These days I really do want there to be more good in my life!

And I’m not talking about good things happening to me.  I’m considering the good I can do in the world with the gifts and talents I’ve been bestowed.

Strangely, as I’ve gotten older the focus is less on me and more on others.  I’m sure my family thinks it’s about time!! Hee, hee!!

What I have found to be true is that God made each of us instrumental to this life we’ve been given and it’s our job to not only follow God’s lead, but to commit to living to His Will…not an easy task at all in the world we live in.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

We may not all have been created to be prophets, but we have been formed to be Godly tools used for His Glory.

Now, don’t freak out if you do not know what your Godly use in this world is.  Some of us take much longer than others for a plethora of reasons.

For me, it has taken years to realize what I can do for God and what I should do for God…and these things have changed from time to time.  What has changed the most is my seeking God’s Will for my life on a daily basis and in everything I do.

As I’ve matured in Godly living, I’ve started to see how my spiritual life and my earthly life are blending together and creating a Meg that I would never have thought possible even a few years ago.  The work God is doing in me and through me takes me aback and humbles me to no end.

This growth is not easy, nor does it promise an easy path.  However, I can count on God to be there every step of the way.

For example, this year I have been called to be hospitable by opening my home to others and to go back to work full-time.  Both have been great in many ways and difficult in others.  However, the point is that I’m responding to God’s call and following Him.

The hardest part is hearing God’s direction and then OBEYING it!!  He’s still working on me A TON on this one!!!

David says it best in Psalms 23:1-6 – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. …

We CAN find joy, hope and peace in the midst of chaos and we CAN find comfort and sanctuary in God’s Presence.

We just have to agree to be used by Him and for Him.

Where do you find yourself today?  Are you in God’s Will?

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 4:23 – Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
