A New Day

When the days become more like drudgery than opportunities – you know something needs to change.

Change?  How about winning the lottery?  Moving to the beach with servants at our beckon call?  What about a life on Easy Street?

Now that is what I call some good changes!!! HA!

Most of the time we think our circumstances should change, others should change or that we just need better luck.  However, the truth is that WE NEED TO CHANGE on a regular basis.

We tend to find ourselves single-focused and we seem to be determined to forge ahead no matter what the cost.  But, what if the path we are headed down is the wrong one?

Don’t you hate it when that happens?  My path, wrong?  Never…. Yea, right.

All too often, we go along with our course of action in place when out of nowhere we are faced with a test, a hard decision, a problem, an obstacle, a crisis or a question.

Sheesh!  What to do?  What to do?

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5

It is human nature to get comfortable and stay awhile wherever we might find ourselves, but that is not where we are supposed to stay.

Sure, we might believe we are in the right place at the right time with a righteous heart, but if we will take a closer look we might discover we are closer to the people that 1Timothy talks about at the end of times: “lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.”

Daily examination, scripture reading and prayer are the only ways to determine where we are and how we are doing on God’s scale…not our own.

Each day is a chance to start fresh and recommit to God’s ways no matter how far off the narrow path we have traveled.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

We have been granted precious gifts by God that we have absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH.  These include:

  1. Salvation
  2. Mercy
  3. And the chance to start fresh each day!!!

We owe a debt we will never be able to repay, but I am determined to live obediently TODAY because God loves me anyway!

Do you need a fresh start today?  Take it!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 28:13 – Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
