Being Content

173Do you ever look at someone in their lovely life, driving their awesome car and living in their amazing house and think…oh, if I could just….

There is always someone better.

Maybe they have more money, are better looking, have more stuff, have nice kids or snagged that fantastic job.  Regardless of what they have that we don’t, we want more.

I don’t consider myself an envious person normally, but I do have a fire in my belly to strive for better and to compare the state of my life with others.  The fire in the belly is fine.  The comparison thingy is not.

Often, I have to remember that God gave us each a different lot in life.  He gave us different gifts and He makes us each useful as He sees fit.

The struggle is to be content with where we are no matter where that place is.

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. Philippians 4:12

So, how can we become content no matter what?

  1. Ask God for it.
  2. Look to take action and fulfill our purpose.
  3. Thank God for what we do have.
  4. Take negative talk, thoughts and people out of our lives.
  5. Read Philippians 4:12 as often as necessary!

Being content takes effort and it’s truly a gift from above.  Start with being thankful and everything else will fall into place.

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 28:25 – A greedy man stirs up strife, but the one who trusts in the Lord will be enriched.
