Freedom

ID-100220757I love Memorial Day.  It is such a special day to remember all of the fallen soldiers who so valiantly fought for the freedom we enjoy today.   Our liberty has not come without a price.

It doesn’t take much to figure out how fortunate we are to live in the United States.

Just look at the news and you’ll find country after country experiencing dilemma, strife, war, hatred and oppression.  It’s pretty scary when you think about how many places in the world are suffering through circumstances most of us know nothing about.

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. Matthew 24:6

Clearly, war will never end here on Earth.  Memorial Days will continue to be necessary and people will always endure affliction.

However, did you hear the good news in the above verse?  It said, “See that you are not alarmed.”  In other words, THERE IS HOPE!

Memorial Day prompts sorrow and grief, but the REAL hope is that through the deaths of those soldiers, we have been given freedom…just like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Jesus died so that WE COULD LIVE!  Halleluiah and AMEN!!

Freedom is not free and we should not take ignore the cost.

Regardless of whether we are discussing Memorial Day or Jesus Christ…WE SHOULD REMEMBER DAILY THEIR SACRIFICE for us.  Not only will we have a better country, but we will also be a better people.

Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.  1Peter 2:16

What are you doing with your freedom?  Here are some ideas.

  1. Ask God to give you a serving heart.
  2. Seek ways to serve your community.
  3. Be quick to listen, slow to speak and very, very slow to anger.
  4. Educate yourself on the needs of those in slavery around the world.
  5. TAKE ACTION.
  6. Get involved.
  7. DO SOMETHING TO BETTER SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE.

God commands us to love Him first and love our neighbors second.  Are you accomplishing God’s request?

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. James 1:25

Don’t be a bystander.  Be a reason for FREEDOM.

Thank you to all of the past, present and future military men and women.

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 8:17 – I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

There is another war going on and that is the war for the Kingdom. We have to be willing and obedient soldiers. Last night, we talked about Christian Persecution in the modern world in my Bible Study Goup. I found a study that stated that around 100,000 Christians are killed annually because of their faith. That dwarfs the casualty numbers for every war in recent history including Iraq, Afghanistan, and even Vietnam (considering that this is an annual figure). Our comfortable Western existence basically ignores much of this suffering. We need to be looking to get in the fight. Glorious Victory awaits!
