God’s Encouragement by Meg celebrates two years of Tuesday/Thursday postings today!  WOOHOO!  Seems strange how quickly the time has gone and how much I’ve enjoyed this blog adventure.

Considering I knew nothing about writing blogs and less about my Savior, Jesus Christ – I am amazed at the growth that God has allowed me to experience during these past two years.  I truly believe writing my GEMs has blessed me more than it has ever blessed anyone else.

In fact, I can now honestly say that it is better to give than to receive. Don’t think I really believed it before!!  Sigh.

God has shown me this time and time again when I’ve been too tired or lazy to write a GEM (but do it anyway) and then receive an email from someone the words have helped.  Talk about being on Cloud 9!  There isn’t anything better than feeling like you’ve helped someone else.  It’s almost addicting!

Make no mistake, my words cannot compare to the ones that God has continually provided…especially during football season since that is all I can seem to think about!!  My Chicago Bears may be 6-6, but my hometown Henry County Patriots are going to STATE!!! (See what I mean?)

God has nudged, encouraged and flat out smacked me across the head to do HIS Will and not my own over the past few years.  He has given me words when I didn’t have any and something to talk about when there was nothing special going on.  He has provided fodder for each week and scriptures to further His work.

I have been His instrument and in return He has blessed me abundantly.  Not in monetary means (although, I have nothing to complain about in that arena), but in the wealth of peace that He has provided.  Nothing can compare.

For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:6

So, as we head into the Christmas season, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on your own relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

  1. Where does God rank in your daily life?
  2. Do read scripture daily?
  3. Do you truly love others as Jesus did?
  4. Do you readily forgive others even if they don’t ask for your forgiveness?
  5. Do you talk to God regularly without asking for something?
  6. Do you give to others who can never pay you back?
  7. Are you using your gifts and talents for God?
  8. Do you know what your purpose is?
  9. Is your life joyful even in the bad times?
  10. Can you call Jesus your friend?

The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. Psalms 28:7

Please know how much I appreciate your support during the past two years and how grateful I am to share my GEMs with you!  May God provide many more if it is His Will!!

Happy Birthday, GEM!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 30:5 – Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
