Decisions

Have you ever had a decision that you just didn’t want to make?  Did the list of pros and cons equal out to a point where you didn’t have a clue which way to go?  Were you so confused by decision time that you wanted to dig a hole…and climb in?

Decisions can be tough.  Making choices can seem like your turning your back on one idea to head towards another.  And you very well might be doing just that.

However, the absolutely worst thing we can do is…NOTHING.

Recently I read a quote from Erica Jong, an author, who said, “Take your life in your own hands and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame.”

Isn’t that the truth!  What if we make the wrong decision?  What if it doesn’t work out the way we planned? What if we look like a fool?

The real question is what will we miss if we don’t try?  Hmmm….

…God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

We can depend on God for everything.  And I mean everything.

For example, if we have a decision to make, we should be on our knees praying for guidance and discernment BEFORE we determine the course to take.  Funny, how sometimes I find myself begging Him to make things better that I never included Him in on in the first place!!!  Grrr….

Let me be clear. God wants every part of our lives…the easy, the mundane and the difficult decisions we make on a moment by moment basis.

In fact, our Heavenly Father wants to be above everything else in our lives!!  Hence, the first commandment!

And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, … Exodus 20:1-26

Don’t think you are worthy of God’s time?  Don’t think He wants every part of your life? Don’t think God will guide you?  Listen….

And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21

God has our backs!  God wants to save us, free us and help us!  When we stop trying to do this life on our own and actually ask Him to get in the driver’s seat, we will finally live as we were created to.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10

Living a life depending on God does not make life easier, but it gives us the confidence to make decisions knowing that God is leading the way and that being in His Will provides a peace that the world doesn’t understand.

So, as you go about your day – hand over all of your decision making to the Lord.  It will be the best decision you’ve ever made!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 3:6 – In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
