New Beginnings

I know I’ve talked about ‘do overs’ before, but I felt like it was a topic I should revisit because the Lord knows I could use all the help I can get and I think you probably could too!!!

Obviously, we are not in the third grade anymore and a ‘do over’ seems unlikely.  But, there is no reason why we can’t stop where we are right now, change directions and become who we really should be.

New beginnings can happen once in a while, yearly, daily or minute by minute.  (I’m definitely on the minute by minute course!) We don’t have to get hung up about our failures or setbacks…we just have to get MOVING!

Instead, we often find ourselves stuck in a rut or worse… like banging our heads against a brick wall.  Isn’t that the definition of insanity?

Clearly, life is complicated.  There are no neon signs beckoning us to follow the yellow brick road.  The path that leads us to our destiny is not paved with instructional directions or a book for dummies.  In fact, it’s more like a dodge ball game where we get slammed in the head every time we turn around!

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.  Ephesians 5:1-2

Drifting through life is just not going to cut it.  We have to deliberately place our life in the Father’s hands and live according to His Word.

If we are not doing either of those things right this second, we need to stop what we are doing, drop to our knees and ask for His guidance.  Nothing else will suffice.

Plus, when we view today as a gift, we can change our attitudes towards what we should be doing with it.

Today isn’t for our pleasure, to follow our dreams or to enjoy the fruits of our labor.  It’s been given to us for a PURPOSE.  The question is do we even know what that is?  And are we actively pursuing it?

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. James 3:13-17

Think of it this way, the moment we are currently in is not because we deserve it and it is not ours to keep.  It’s because the Heavenly Father granted us another chance to fulfill His objectives.

Hm…puts a different perspective on today, doesn’t it?

Intentionally living is REALLY living.  It’s humbling ourselves at the feet of God and serving His purpose instead of our own.

Of course, new beginnings and do overs are necessary because we are human; but as we live purposefully, the need for them will subside.

God’s true intention is for us to live through Him and for Him.  This takes practice, patience and guidance by the only One who knows the right way.

For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Thessalonians 5:9

Each day can make us or break us.  What is today going to do for you?

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 20:24 – A man’s steps are from the Lord; how then can man understand his way?
