Technical Difficulties

laptopOkay, computers rock! But, some days they stink to high heaven when they don’t work and you don’t know how to FIX them!!!  Lovely…this is when I wish I had paid more attention in those technology classes.

Last week started out fine and dandy until my laptop crashed and started giving me fits over not having enough hard drive space.  Apparently, a virus corrupted my hard drive and put me out of commission for several days…argh!!!

Thankfully, I was able to take my machine to a local computer store and have them sort out the mess and make it all better.  Hallelujah!

As always, life happens. Things don’t go our way. And sometimes we just have to wait it out until someone else can fix our problem.

Personally, I don’t like to wait.  I don’t like problems and I certainly don’t like to let others down.

However, this is when I learn the most about patience. (Really? Can’t life just run smoothly?)

A computer virus is nothing compared to the catastrophes of the Oklahoma tornadoes or any other life altering event.

However, when I should have been grateful for a computer that could be repaired; selfishly, I was crabby, irritated and annoyed.

I mean, come on, I couldn’t write my GEM, much less post them for a whole week!

Such is life.  But, I would do well to remember that the little stuff does count and can teach me something  even when I’m not all that receptive to the ‘teaching moment’.

Be not quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger lodges in the bosom of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:9

I guess I’m a fool.

Sadly, it’s not just computer problems that get my goat.  It’s all the little annoyances that occur daily and create in me a hardened heart with a ‘why me?’ attitude.  CRIMENY!

Will I ever learn?

Probably not…until I deal better with each irritation as it happens.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land. Psalms 37:7-9

On a God note – He wants us to wait for Him patiently and not give into our own petty anger.  The little irritations turn into larger dramas and cause our heart to seek our own selfish desires instead of waiting for the many blessings God can and will bestow upon us.

I most definitely have to do better in this area and consider my life as a school where the teacher throws in a few kinks to find out what I’m made of.

If I’ll rely on God to guide my steps instead of shuffling past the hard stuff – THEN I will be ready to praise Him eternally. WOOHOO!

We can all learn something today.  The question is, “Are we patient enough to get it?”

Today…I’m immensely grateful for my working computer!  Thanks, GOD!!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 15:18 – A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention.
