Every Minute Counts!

This week is HUGE for many of my friends and family because Friday night is high school graduation in several towns across the nation!

It’s sort of like ‘the end’ and a little like ‘just the beginning’.

No matter how we view this significant event, the future will only tell what these graduates will do with the rest of their lives and we would serve them well by being supportive, patient and a source of wisdom as they embark on a new path that they alone have to choose.

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12

Emotions are at conflict with one another at times like these because amid all the excitement and celebration, there is fear, insecurity and uncertainty. I don’t know who it is worse for…the parents or the graduates?

Regardless of who is graduating – the entire family is affected.

I should know since my niece will be one of those who graduate this Friday. WOOHOO and UH, OH (all at the same time)!!!  I mean she was born AFTER I was married!!!

Of course, I think she is beautiful, brilliant and has a bright future.  But even she will make mistakes, take wrong turns and find herself wondering late at night if she is on the right path (don’t tell her mother, please…hee, hee).

I have only one piece of advice for any of these graduates…every minute counts.

Basically, I want to keep them from making some of my mistakes as I’ve rushed through life waiting for things to happen so I could start really living, or spent time working to get the money to do something, or refused to execute my plans because I was afraid to fail.

What a waste of time! And we don’t get it BACK!

Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:16-17

I do sometimes wonder what I could have done if I’d spent more time learning about God and doing His Will instead of focusing on myself and trying to figure life out by myself.

However, even at the lovely age of 40 – I see a bright future when I follow the path that God has placed before me.

It’s definitely never too late to make every minute count, but wouldn’t it be best to start right away instead of wading through wasted years?

So…to all those graduating – MAKE EVERY MINUTE COUNT!

It really does make a difference and you’ll be glad you did!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 6:6-8 – Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.

We would not be the people we are today, if we had not made the mistakes we made.

Yep, but how much better could we be if we actually obeyed and followed God’s will instead of our own?
