Crabby Crisis

crab1Wow, have I been crabby lately! I can tell it’s been a longer irritable stint than usual because even one of my dear old neighbors commented that I’d been cranky.

Leave it to the ones closest to you to put you in your place! Thanks, Ray!

God must be trying to tell me something because I then read a devotional this morning that sealed the deal for me! The Girlfriends in God referenced the following verse.

My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor. Ecclesiastes 2:10

Yes, I heard it, God.  TAKE DELIGHT IN WORK. And no, I haven’t been. Sigh.

We all have to do things we would rather not, get along with those we’d like to gag and withstand trials we’d love to get rid of.  In fact, many of us do these terrible tasks with a frown on our face and a complaint to anyone who will listen.  Poor US!

Well, guess what? God wants us to pull up our big girl panties (or boy boxers) and get with the program – even if it’s not the program we signed up for!!

Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Philippians 2:14-16

I love how Mary Sutherland puts our often loathsome tasks into perspective, “…but it is pointless to move from one job to another without first settling the issue of who it is that we truly are serving in the workplace. Daily work takes on eternal significance when it is done for God.”

As usual, this joyful existence while performing daunting duties is easier said than done.  And to add to our dismay, we are supposed to tame our tongues so that only good stuff comes out! OH NO! (This is the hardest part for me!!)

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29

Yep, the world is watching, as well as God.  SO, it’s time to change my attitude and put an end to the crabby crisis.  The Lord knows that our situations aren’t changing anytime soon, but the way we look at them and react to them CAN.

A positive attitude makes a world of difference in the long run and might make us happier in the meantime!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 27:15 – A quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping on a rainy day.

Meg! What a perfect message for ME today! I have a habit of doing laps in the crabby pool, but I think I am ready to get out, dry off, and get back to the work at hand! Thank you for the encouragement. Blessings to you and yours.
