Shameless Living

Okay, just the title of this post has gotten me shaking in my boots (cute, black, furry one’s I found on sale at DSW)!!!!

Man, oh, MAN!

It’s hard to say I live shamelessly when I KNOW I’ve told a little-bitty-teeny-tiny white lie at least once in the last week.  (Hope it’s only one!!)

Not to mention the gossiping and judging that escapes my lips every time I turn around.  YIKES!!!  Can a girl catch a break?

Apparently not.  Especially since she doesn’t deserve one!

There is hope, though, for us sinners who struggle sometimes minute by minute to lead a more righteous life and to please our Heavenly Father.

  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9

This morning I heard some lyrics to a song that struck a chord – I’m not where I once was, but I’m not where I want to be.  LOVE IT!

These words completely describe ME.  I’ve come a long way from a potty-mouth, self-seeking, panic-ridden princess.  But, I have a ways to go to become the obedient, kind-hearted and Christ-like woman I would like to be.

Yep, I’m still a work –in-progress and God loves me right where I am, warts and all.

We all fall short of perfection and shameless living is difficult at best.  In fact, there has been only one man who walked this earth that was perfect.  Jesus Christ.

Do you know him?  Is he your friend?  Will he tell his Father that he died for you?

I’ve been really thinking about knowing Jesus.  Sure, I know who he is and I know what he did for me, but would he call me friend?  Probably depends on the day.

Lately I’ve been praying to get to know Jesus better.  To have a closer relationship with him and to desire his will for my life.  I’ve concentrated a lot on God, but I’ve lacked the growth with His son.

I believe Jesus wants to know me better, too.

  • “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:12-14

My deeds will never make me righteous or deserving of eternal life.  But Jesus offers his life for mine.  For that alone…I should really try to get to know him better.

Plus, I’m sure shameless living would get LOADS easier to do with his help!!

What about you? Would Jesus call you friend?

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 3:1-2 – My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.

My thought after reading this was, “Meg, I love you!!” Every time you go ahead and say what we think and how we feel so often. Then you remind us and encourage us with the Word, ending always with the love of Jesus. I praise Him, love Him, and love you for all this! Makes me smile…(and I wish I could see your cute boots! 😉

If we get where we want to be does that mean we have quit growing?
