Jumpstarting Your Faith

Living in and with faith is down-right hard.   Sigh.

In my humanness, I struggle with believing in something I’ve never seen, heard or touched.  Not only is it difficult to wrap my mind around the unseen, but it’s even harder to live faithfully to Jesus Christ in a world that doesn’t care much about obeying God.

Think about it.  How many people to you see living their faith?  I see many gossiping, lying, cheating, arguing and stepping on someone else to succeed.

Where are those people who are doing the right thing even when it’s hard to do?

All too often even the people with great faith travel through the day without giving a thought to who made the day and why.  Most of us stay busy with living that we don’t stop to wonder why we are alive in the first place.

Our purpose escapes us and faith seems to be part of the weekly ritual of going to church (if we make the time to do that).

Most of us fail to live our faith daily, much less moment by moment.

Of course, faith becomes extremely useful when life stinks because of illness, death or bad things are happening.  When times are tough, the religion train gets crowded.

How sad is it that everyone seems to want prayers when times are bad, but no one gives God any glory when times are good?  Hm.

SO…what is faith and how do we jumpstart it?

  1. Read your bible.
  2. Ask for God’s help.
  3. Choose to live by faith.

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17

Yep, I’ll say it again.  Read your Bible.  This is where faith comes from and this is exactly how we can strengthen it!!

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Asking God for the gift of faith will help us strengthen our faith, but most importantly LIVE OUR FAITH!

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

No one is perfect.  We all stumble, fail and fall.  However, every day we are given a new day to choose how we will live.

What’s your choice?

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 25:26 – Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.

Loved it when you said, “live our faith”! That is truly what makes us Follwers of Christ! Our world is filled with people who believe in Jesus, but don’t live for Him! That is probably why James said “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
Funny, James never said it would be easy, but it is so worth it!

      So true, Heather!!!

Along these lines, the book, “20,000 days and counting”, is a great read! Hits this issue square between the eyes.

Is that the book you were talking about your church reading??
