The Sky Is Falling!

We are on the home stretch!  Today is Election Day, so that means we won’t have to watch those annoying commercials anymore.  Yippee!

But guess what?  That means there will be a winner and a loser.  AND someone (probably lots of someones) will think that the sky is falling depending on which side they happen to be on.

Well, Chicken Little, the sky IS NOT falling without God’s approval.

He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.  Daniel 2:21

God KNOWS what is going on!  Isn’t that wonderful?!  He tells us not to worry because He has it under control.  WHEW!  And here I thought I had to fix everything.  Nope, God’s got it!

Obviously, our government does affect each and every one of us.  Instead of thinking of the big picture and all the things that WE would do if we were running the country (uh…no thanks!), we should be focusing on what we CAN do.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34

Think about it.  God is taking care of us all.  No matter where we are in life, no matter who we vote for, no matter what we’ve ever done.  God loves us and wants to heal our wounds and mend our hearts.

The real questions in the midst of choosing sides and casting votes are these:

  1. Are we living a life pleasing to God?
  2. Do we have a relationship with God?
  3. Are we helping others with the blessings we have been given?
  4. Do we trust God?
  5. Are we obeying God?

If you said ‘yes’ to all of those questions, then I would love to meet you!  The Lord knows I can answer ‘yes’ sometimes, but never at the same time.  Definitely, working on it!!!

I dare say most of us struggle daily to resist sin, trust God and help others.  But we aren’t doing life alone!!!  God not only keeps the world turning (and a lot of other things going), but also will take the load off of us!!

Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. Psalm 54:4

We are not privy to God’s plan, but the sky will only fall if or when God tells it to.  And even then…God will keep us safe in His arms.

SO…as you go through today, regardless of whether your man wins or loses, please remember WHO is really in charge.  Placing our trust in God and DOING His Will leads us to where we need to go.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 12:25 – An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.
