Ants in My Pants

Is it summertime, yet?

I seem to be getting antsy for the lazy days of summer, vacationing with friends and family, reading some good books and resting from the hectic schedule of everyday life.

What’s funny is that as I’m looking at my list of items to do over the summer…the calendar looks as busy as the rest of the seasons of life!!!

What is that all about?!?!?!?!

Well, it just makes me realize that no matter what season of life I’m going through there are always agenda items to get to and missions to accomplish.  This gift of life we have been given is not about breezing through without some hurricanes, tsunamis and floods.

Every season has its joys and sorrows.  Some are worse than others, but in the end we were created to work through each stage only to get to the next stage and do the same.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; …”  Ecclesiastes 3:1-22

Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my own little world that I tend to forget that every moment has a purpose and it would serve me well to make the best of each.

Unfortunately, when I’m resting, I want to be doing something; when I’m busy, I want to rest;  when I’m hot, I want to cool off; and when I’m crazy, I want to be sane.  The list goes on, but the restlessness of my heart stays the same.

My lack of contentment is really just a lack of trust that God has a plan and purpose and I’m not the one in control.  Fear fuels this lack of satisfaction with the repetitive echo of Satan telling me I might not like where God wants to take me.  YIKES!

Hold on Nelly!!!  This is where I pull in the reins, fall to my knees and praise God for His mercy, forgiveness and love!  I may have ants in my pants, but God is the ultimate exterminator and will provide the right solution to get rid of this antsy feeling!!

God doesn’t promise us tomorrow, but He does say He will help us today if we ask Him.

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:16

As the change of seasons into summer approaches, I pray I will allow God to guide my every step and I am asking Him to help me to trust Him completely and to find satisfaction and joy in each moment.

How about you?  Are you satisfied with the plans of the impending summer?
