Mom’s have a special place in our world.  They come in all shapes and forms and their main mission is to teach us to be the best we can be no matter what our circumstance.

Mom’s can birth us, adopt us, take us in and/or love us…it matters not how they became our mothers, but their love lifts us up and gives us the courage and strength to make a difference in our world and the lives of those around us.

So what do we learn from our mothers?

Personally, I’ve been blessed with a fantabulous mom who is strong, gorgeous, funny, smart, loving, caring, and much more.  She trained me to make wise choices, have self-respect and to never give up when reaching for a goal.

My mom was a strict disciplinarian, with a loving touch that taught me the importance of doing what was right – so, even when I stray from the narrow path, I can’t blame it on ignorance!  Oh man!!!!

Now that I’m a mother myself, I see the wisdom of all that my own mom taught me.  I know the hopes, dreams, worry, and prayers that go into shaping these little humans that we were given into individuals who use their gifts and talents for the good of mankind.

The job of motherhood is full of joy, frustration, love, concern, aspiration, anxiety, laughs and tears.  It can be the best and the worst job in the world, but the fruit of the mother’s labor is worth more than all of the world’s riches.

Actually, I think moms are God’s servants who teach us what His unconditional love is all about.  Moms are the hands and feet of Christ who show their children what His mercy and grace look like.  (Thank you, God.  The Lord knows we ALL need as much forgiveness as we can get!!!)

The following verse is often read at weddings, but I think it defines the epitome of a mother.

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends….” 1Corinthians 13:4-8
