Remembering Easter

The tomb was EMPTY!!  Jesus Christ has risen from the dead!!  He has conquered death, sin and our destruction!!  Hallelujah!  Amen!!

Now what?

Life goes on.  Kids go back to school.  Adults go back to work.  Gradually, we fall head-first into the mundane routine of everyday activities.  The hectic, busy schedules get top priority and the sacrifice of the Son of God gets pushed to the back burner.  The promise and hope of Easter is forgotten.

No, no, no!  I don’t want that to happen this year!!!  I want to remember Easter every day, every moment with every breath I take.  But, how?

First of all, I have to make a conscious decision to place God above everything else in my life.  I have to make the effort to give Him my full attention every morning and ask Him to guide my steps each day.  I have to read His Word, ask His advice and place my life into His hands.  I have to be willing to let go of my wants and desires to allow His work to be done in my life.

Secondly, I have to place the needs of others above my own.  I have to extend this from taking care of family and friends to making the world a better place by actually caring for it.  Of course, none of this can be done without first requesting God’s input for the plan.

Both of these actions go back to the top two commandments Jesus told us were above all others.

“And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’”  Matthew 22:37-40

Therefore, I have to decide to BELIEVE that God loves me and ignore the lies of this world.  The deception is great and many of us falter because it’s easier to believe there is nothing beyond science, evolution and the great mysteries of the world.

Faith is the key!

The hope of Jesus Christ’s redemptive powers from the cross and the love of our Almighty Father are only useful when taken with a huge dose of faith.  The combination of the three (faith, hope and love) makes an arsenal ready for the mental battle against the deception of the world.

“ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:10-12 (italics and underline are mine)

I have to grasp these tools with all that I am in order to make Easter’s promise alive each day of my life.

It’s crucial to remember that my worth isn’t based on other people’s opinions; it’s based on the reality that God loves me completely and unconditionally.  The Risen Christ is the proof of this absolute love and the power of Easter lies in the faith that the story is TRUTH!

How do you keep the hope of Easter alive each day?

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 21:3 – To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
