A Fresh Start

by | Dec 29, 2011 | Uncategorized | 4 comments

The New Year is quickly approaching. (I know, I can’t believe it, either!!!  Where did the year go?)  It’s not time to panic; it’s time to get busy!  Ready or not, 2012 is here!

No matter what this past year looked like – it’s gone!  The future is a blank canvas and you are the paint.  Who are you going to ask to be the artist?  Will it be your job, friends, family, money, status, ambition?  Or will you ask the One who made you what He wants you to do with the year He is giving you?

Don’t know about you, but I could use some help with getting my life on track and I definitely need a fresh start.

I’ve spent way too much time fulfilling selfish desires and playing by my own rules.  Unfortunately, I haven’t allowed God to be my guide and the one who sets my agenda.

I think it’s time for a do over!  Yep!  That’s right!  The kind you got as a kid when things weren’t turning out the way you wanted them to!  Plus, January 1st is a guaranteed second chance!  Why not let the God of love and mercy help turn this coming year into the beginning of the best years of my life?

The upcoming year is a fantastic occasion to exchange the burdens of your life for God’s presence in your life.  He wants to bring light into our darkness, forgiveness in our shame and encouragement in our hopelessness.  All we have to do is TRUST Him.

Much too often living life is spent without intention.  Since our existence on earth is limited, do we really want to waste another precious moment?  Isn’t it time to take the power away from the junk that destroys us and makes us miserable and give it to the God who loves us?

God really does want us to be in relationship with Him and loves us enough to give us the choice to want Him or not.  He is the master of second chances and do overs!

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”  John 3:16-17

I love the second sentence…Jesus did not come to condemn, He came to SAVE!  Whew!!!  I sure need that!!!

We all have the chance to make a fresh start – every day!!   God wants more for us than we can even fathom.  He wants our lives to be filled with hope, joy and love.  We can exchange our lives of mediocrity for the life He created us to live.  However, yes…you have to trust Him to lead your life.

Please join me in asking God to be the creator of your New Year’s resolutions this year.

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 4:10-11 – Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many.  I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.

Right on Meg! The new year is a great place to begin again for it is promising “if” we seize the opportunity. I need that kick in the pants to get going at times. Sometimes in the forgiveness area we have a hard time forgiving ourselves of some junk and it holds us captive. I know now that fear has kept me from doing some things. The new year can be that new start that we all need. The Lord’s mercies are new every morning and great is His faithfulness! I want to share some new things this year and your encouragment is enabling me to rethink some great things for this new year. Thanks again! Love you maw parker

So glad that God is a God of do-overs! Wish we were more willing to give each other the do-over’s that each of us so desperately need but are too prideful to ask for! Thank you for sharing your “gems” with us!
