Jumping

IMG_0247Steve Harvey has been getting a ton of media attention lately – and not the good kind!!

Unfortunately, his recent stardom is for a colossal mistake he made during the Miss Universe pageant.  I guess saying the wrong name for the winner is a really bad oops!!!  YIKES!

What you may not have seen is the video that surfaced of Harvey talking to his Family Feud audience about jumping.

(To view the speech, please go to this link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFltqHCTTVo)

The premise of the video is to get the listener to live life to the fullest by using the God-given talents we each have.

The analogy Harvey uses is that everyone is standing on the edge of the cliff and the ones that truly live in life are the ones who jump knowing that they can trust God to open their parachute.

How cool is that?

Harvey goes on to say that those of us who do not jump are never going to know what life could have been like and will instead, settle for watching others fly around enjoying the fruits of their courage.

Do you have the courage to jump?

For me, my daring to jump varies on the day.  Mostly it depends on whether I’m feeling strong, weak, brave or meek.

What I loved about this analogy is that it bases our choice of jumping or not on the amount of trust we have for God to catch us when we fall.  (My level of trust ALSO depends on the day.)

I think too many of us live thinking we have to earn God’s love and forgiveness.  We place our human standards on Him instead of taking His Word at face value and knowing that we can live freely because of HIS doing, not our own!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Simple, yet we make it so difficult.

I know it’s scary to jump off the cliff, but how will we ever know what could have been unless we take the plunge?  How can we truly live if we aren’t trusting God to guide us down the path He created for us?

It is never too late to place our trust in our Heavenly Father.  Are you willing to jump into His hands?

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 3:5-8 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
