Looking Forward

IMG_0471As I see the summer coming to an end, I find myself looking forward to the new school year and all of the exciting things it will hold.

Go figure, but my boys are not nearly as happy as I am that the summer is over and it’s now time to get down to business…hee, hee!

Unfortunately, I am frequently just like my kiddos with the bad attitude towards whatever my new school year happens to be.  It’s a struggle to want to change (much less do it) or push past the rut I have sometimes made very comfortable for myself.

More often than not, we moan and groan about the stuff we will miss or what could have been instead of looking forward to the future and the opportunities it holds.

What we should be doing is placing our trust in God to help us move past what could have been and put our efforts towards what He wants for us!!!  Sigh.

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

Pressing onward is essential to quality living.  I understand how difficult this is, but we must secure the hope of God in our hearts and trust in HIS LOVE for US.

Like I mentioned in Tuesday’s blog, with God, we have tons of things to hope for!  We just have to place our faith and trust in Him to guide us appropriately and then FOLLOW His leading.

God, not once, led His people wrong and I believe wholeheartedly that if we would look back on our own lives that we would find that He hasn’t led us astray either…nor will He ever.

It’s hard to move forward.  I get it.  No one wants to change, especially if we are having fun.  The sad part is that most of us don’t want to change even if we are in a bad relationship, steeped in sin or headed down the wrong path.

Change is hard, yet change is necessary to move towards the hope of God’s promises!!!

Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 1Corinthians 15:51-52

Looking forward with hope is what we are called to do, so make your list of changes and get to it!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 19:2 – Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.
