The Easiest Lie to Believe…

dandelionIn case you haven’t noticed, there are people struggling around us every day.

Whether it’s the one who lost his job, the mother who’s about to pull her hair out over a screaming baby, or the teenager who doesn’t fit in – sad, depressed, lonely and hurt folks are everywhere.

Being down in the dumps is not unfamiliar to any of us, but staying there can be dangerous if we don’t have the right attitude and the right person to lean on (Jesus).

Another cool saying from Facebook explains many of our struggles perfectly.

Only God can turn:

  • a Mess into a Message
  • a Test into a Testimony
  • a Trial into a Triumph
  • a Victim into a Victory

What great news!!

The problem is that many times we WANT AND DO believe the lies.  You know what I’m talking about!  The ones that say we deserve better, deserve worse or aren’t worthy at all.

My brother-in-law said it best when he told me that the easiest lie to believe is the one we want to hear. Sigh.

How many times have we been there?  For me, I’m sure it’s several.

What we have to remember is that the devil LIES to us ALL the time!  He wants us miserable and not relying on God.  He wants us wallowing in our distress and blinded to Truth. He wants to take the simplicity out of our salvation and make it seem hard and unattainable.  He wants to devour us and keep us from the One who loves us and saves us.

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44

God is Truth.  God wants us to rest assured in His love, joy, peace and hope.

Now, none of those above sound like misery, do they?  It’s because they aren’t.  In fact, we can find His love, joy, peace and hope even in our messes, tests and trials if we will RELY on God throughout them.

Crazy, I know, but true.

God’s message is one of truth.  Believe it!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
