Keeping It Simple

keep it simpleSo many times we try to make life more complicated than it is.  Why is that?

Some of my examples include the fact that I’ve been saying for years that I want my kids to grow up with a servant’s heart, but I’ve done nothing to make this happen.  I’ve prayed for wisdom, but refused to listen to it.  I’ve asked for the neon sign, but I’ve rejected those that have come my way.  Sigh.

When will we ever learn that keeping it simple is the best way?

There’s an obvious reason that the acronym K.I.S.S. fits so well to this post.

K – Keep

I – It

S – Simple

S – Stupid

Well, maybe it just fits my life, but you get the point!!!

Following Jesus doesn’t take a rocket scientist, but it does take a commitment to, well, be committed to obeying His commandments, ways, habits, and teachings.

For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. John 13:15

He made it really easy for us when He said to love God with all of our heart and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Unfortunately, our selfish egos get in the way on a daily basis and keep us from enjoying the benefits of adhering to Jesus’ teaching.

What are these benefits you ask????

  • Love
  • Hope
  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Mercy
  • Grace
  • AND TOO MANY TO LIST!!!

The first definition of simple when typed into Google is “easily understood or done; presenting no difficulty.”  This tells me that God wants us to be blessed beyond measure because He has made it easy to receive His blessings!!!!

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17

So, stop making it so hard and just follow JESUS!!!  Read about His teachings.  Get to know Him.  Obey His commands.  And most of all, understand that He loves YOU and ME more than His own life.  WOW!!

Thank you, Jesus!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 30:5 – Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
