Spring Cleaning

IMG_1754With Friday being the First Day of Spring (hallelujah), it’s a perfect time to start thinking about what we need to clean out of our heads, hearts, and spirits to get ready for this new season!

All I have to do is look into my pantry to see the pile of junk food – that I’ve sworn off because they aren’t good for us, but continue buy at the grocery store or allowing in my house – to see that I should do a good spring cleaning to get rid of all the junk I don’t need in my house.

The truth is that I love the taste of Cheetos, animal crackers, Reese Pieces and ice cream. So, if I have any of those yummy items in my house…I am tempted beyond measure and am sure to fail miserably.  And don’t even get me started on Candy Corn because those little suckers will be gone in two seconds flat!!!!

What is my deal?!?!?!  I must be a lunatic!!!  UGH!!!

It’s pathetic how much I KNOW what I should do, but continue to set myself up for catastrophe by living on the edge and testing my limits.  Psychotic is more like it….

Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Mark 14:38

Isn’t that how we are with the sin in our lives?

Christians have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit that attempts to guide us down the right path to a heavenly destination.  He directs our hearts and heads toward God so that we may walk in His way.

However, in order to choose God’s way instead of our own, we actually have to listen to Him through His Word and by prayer.

They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them…. Romans 2:15

The problem we face is that there is so much “junk food” in our pantry, surrounding the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which makes it nearly impossible to choose the right choice.

God wants the best for us, but instead we choose the sick nasty world.

Makes absolutely no sense!!!

Life is busy, noisy and conflicting.  We must clean out the nonsense on a regular basis in order to stay on the right course.  If we don’t, we are almost certain to stray.  Then we will have missed God’s best for us.  So sad!!

Sure, having a handful of candy is probably not going to kill me or even make me fat.  But, who can resist reaching in and taking more?  After about five handfuls I’ll have a stomach ache and at my age, will most likely have gained 10 lbs.  At this point, I can just look at the junk food and gain 10 lbs.!!!!

Cleaning up our act on a daily basis will keep us on the narrow road and lead us to paradise.

Why would we settle for anything less?

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 14:27 – The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.
