Backsliding

IMG_3898We all have the tendency to backslide.  GRRRRR….

Be it our diet, our work-out routine, anger management, Bible reading, prayer time or hateful words – it matters not what the problem is, but it does matter what we do once we notice.

I don’t know about you, but I sometimes see my backsliding behaviors and then bury them again because I don’t want to deal with the repercussions or take the effort to actually make a change.  Please tell me I’m not the only one!!!

This is not uncommon to man.  We all make mistakes.  We all fail.  But, we all have the choice to try again.  It’s all about our point of view!

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” ― Thomas Edison

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” ― Winston Churchill

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” ― Maya Angelou

“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.” ― Theodore Roosevelt

The quotes on getting past failure are endless.

They all say the same thing.  WE FAIL. DON’T WALLOW IN FAILURE. GET UP AND TRY AGAIN.

Honestly, the quicker we move on from the backsliding, the faster we will find ourselves on a better path.  However, sometimes we believe the lie that failure it too painful and we will be made a fool.

These lies are not from God.  They are from the one who wants us to fail, loves it even.

And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Revelations 12:9

The good news is that God’s grace is sufficient for our failures.  He loves us anyway and He prompts us to try again every time we fail.

Therefore, the next time you fail.  Find out what you can learn from it and then take to trying again!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 28:13 – Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
