My boys love shoot ‘em up, bang-bang ANYTHING. However, my rule is that you have to play the good guy. I don’t want any bad guys roaming around and I certainly don’t want them to be my sweet babies!
Okay, so this is where they say, “Aw, mom! Just let us play already!”
The truth is evil is everywhere we turn. Whether it’s the little white lie slipping from our lips to the heinous murder of innocent lives.
Sin is sin.
And all of it is US turning our backs on God and telling Him that we know best, we want our own way and we don’t care about Him.
Basically we all have our own excuses.
- It’s too hard.
- God understands why I’m doing this.
- I’m not as bad as ‘so-and-so’.
- It’s the 21st Century – all that God stuff is SO 1900.
Well, this kind of thinking leads us in the wrong direction.
It causes confusion, anxiety, loneliness and fear. We push God out of the way and go for the gold all by ourselves, placing priority on things that mean nothing and putting value on items that can go away in a blink of an eye.
The power of God is denied and we are left to flail in an ocean with high waves and a tsunami brewing.
The choice is ours.
We can either go our own way and suffer the consequences or we can choose to follow a merciful God who repeatedly gives us His grace for our numerous failures and frailties.
The great news is that it is NEVER too late to choose God.
But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live. Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord God, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live? Ezekiel 18:21-23
In fact, Heaven rejoices when sinners turn towards God. I think it’s because they know how much we will flourish when we obey Him.
Following God isn’t a drag. It’s amazing! Especially when He opens our eyes to His fingerprints on all aspects of our lives EVEN WHEN WE WEREN’T FOLLOWING HIM.
How cool is that?!?!?!
Personally, God has been working on me for a long time. Even though, I today choose to follow God, He knows I will fail and sin on occasion. This is why I am very well aware that my future holds His discipline and guidance where He will break me, mold me and shape me for my own good and for His Glory.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2Corinthians 3:18
God’s Power is greater than anything we could imagine and through Him I expect to see awesome things. I hope you will cling to Him and be open to see the many blessings He would like to shower upon you!
