Now What?

explosionLast week’s tumultuous events with the Boston Marathon bombing, the West, Texas plant explosion, the mid-west flooding and the play-by-play apprehension of the alleged bomber has me wondering what is going to happen this week?

Talk about one heck of a wild ride! Jeez! Now what?

I’m more than sure that these events aren’t the last we see of sin, destruction, murder and mayhem. But what do we do in the meantime?

Waiting around for the next bomb to drop (literally) is not what God wants us to do.

However, as most of us breathe a sigh of relief after last week’s craziness, it leads to the question of how do we prepare ourselves for trials while living in Christ’s freedom today?

Uhhh.

Expecting the worst, but hoping for the best without living in fear, dread and panic is a hard line to toe. And if we rely on our own sensibilities and pure will, we will surely fail.

God’s Word leads us down a different path.

Of David. Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. … Psalm 37:1-5

Here is what I see:

  1. Do not fret.
  2. Trust in God.
  3. Do good.
  4. Be faithful.
  5. Delight in God.
  6. Commit to God.

If we will give each day to God, trust Him to lead us through it and obey His commands – God WILL ACT.

As a matter of fact, God already HAS acted when He placed Jesus Christ on the cross to take the nails for you and me.

I love what it says in 2 Samuel about God’s mercy and His continued saving grace towards us, “But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

Yep, He’s talking about you and me. God wants us to live life to its fullest without fear, worry, anxiety and trepidation.  The caveat is that we must place our lives in HIS HANDS.

So, how can we start living as one freed from the horrors of this world?

Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:13

Give someone else a pep talk, a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to bend TODAY.

Providing others a measure of God’s grace will heap on you a multitude of God’s PEACE, all the while getting you through this world’s craziness today!!

Let me know what happens!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 23:17-18 – Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.
