Don’t Forget Who You’re Dealing with…

Have you ever had a bad day that turned into a week, month, or maybe even a year?  Did you wonder what you had done to deserve such a rotten lot in life?  Or why if you had any luck at all, it would only be of the dreadful sort?

Perhaps you’ve never been in this kind of situation, but I’d dare say you have met someone that walks around with a black cloud following them overhead.  YIKES!

Personally, I do not believe in luck.  But, I do believe that there is a devil that reigns in our world and is looking to trip up those who are followers of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I’m certain Satan weasels into our lives with lies and dissention and plays upon our lack of confidence in our Almighty Father’s love for us.  He gloats with success and tries harder if we don’t fall into his trap.

  • We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 1John 5:19

Sadly, we often allow our doubt, selfishness and dissatisfaction with life to lure us over to the dark side because God isn’t answering our prayers or working fast enough to suit our desires.

We are quick to jump ship when the waves start rolling in and God isn’t sending a miracle our way.

Apparently, this is not a 21st Century surprise.  In fact, God warns us profusely throughout His Word to be aware of the evil that is lurking in dark places waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting individual.

  • Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1Peter 5:8

Wait. A. Second.

Don’t forget who you’re dealing with!!!  God is almighty, powerful, omnipotent, holy, great, strong and my favorite…LOVE.

God hasn’t left us in this scary old world without a weapon to fight the evil forces we face!

  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. … John 1:1-5

God gave us a savior through His Son, Jesus Christ, who in turn, gave us the Holy Spirit to dwell in us to HELP us!  (See John 14:26)

Why, oh why, can’t I seem to remember this!!!  I find myself on too many occasions in a pit of fear and hopelessness to fight against the yucky people in this world.  And yes, there are many.

But again, I forget…they honestly don’t know who they are dealing with!

  • And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Revelations 12:9

I hope you see that God wins today, tomorrow and for eternity.  There is nothing we go through that He isn’t aware of.  Not a word, deed or thought goes on without His knowledge.

Certainly, we can’t comprehend why bad stuff happens (once, much less repeatedly), but that is not our job.

Our responsibility is to trust and obey God so that He can guide us through this messy world to an amazing eternity with Him in heaven.  Plus, we are to “encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness” (Hebrews 3:13)

Man…sounds so much easier than it is!!!  Sigh.

I’ve got some work to do, but I know that evil WILL NOT PREVAIL.  It might win in a few worldly battles, but it most surely doesn’t win the war.

God. Is. Good.

All. The. Time.

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 16:4 – The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.

If we only had sunny days, we would not rejoice in them. Also, sometimes it is necessary for us to experience pain to grow into the person that God intends us to be. I don’t enjoy the storms, but I know first hand that God has a good reason for allowing them to enter our lives. We just don’t always see the larger picture at the time.

I agree with Kelly on timing!!! Great encouragement you’ve given us here to remember our Father and His word to us. 🙂 Thanks! I don’t believe in luck either. And my favorite quote from the post…”Apparently, this is not a 21st Century surprise.” 🙂 Agreed. Love you!

Hee, hee! Thanks, Jenni! That quote was my favorite, too!!! Glad it was great timing for you, too! Hoping to enjoy the calm after the storm one day, but in the meantime, I’m praying for a thankful heart that continues to grow closer to Christ so I can get to know Him better and become more like Him. Love you, too! Heard your singing with Jason, Randy and others was fantastic!!! Wish I could have heard it!
