How to Make 2013…GRRREAT!

by | Jan 3, 2013 | Uncategorized | 4 comments

I SURE HAVE MISSED YOU, GEM!!!  Between the holidays, traveling and guests, I haven’t had a chance to write!  But, now I’m back and ready for my future!!!

Wait a minute!!  It’s three days into the New Year and I already feel like I’m behind the eight ball! WHAT?!?!  Stop.  Take a deep breath.  Exhale.

Clearly, I have some changes to make and some prayers to be said.  It’s not like I didn’t know that the New Year was coming or that my schedule was a secret.  NOPE!  I just didn’t plan accordingly, nor did I place my complete trust in the ONE who can handle it ALL.  In fact, the truth is that I tried to do it ALL BY MYSELF.  Argh!

My plight may be foreign to you or it could be exactly what you are going through today.  Regardless of whether you are prepared for the future or find yourself under a cloud of uncertainty…the message stays the same, “Trust in God.”

Sharon Jaynes said it well, “Glory moments in difficult times are not dependent on our circumstances, but on our focus. Focus on the difficulty and God is difficult to see. Focus on God and glory seeps through the broken places.”

My focus in 2013 needs to be on God, His Will and DOING for His glory.  In fact, I’ve made only one resolution this year…DO.

So, what am I actually going to do?  Here are a few ideas.

  1. Read my Bible.
  2. Pray to my Maker.
  3. Pray for others.
  4. Write.
  5. Sing.
  6. Love others.
  7. Forgive.
  8. GIVE.

I don’t have to be a superstar to make any of the above things happen in 2013.  I just have to DO!

I think we sometimes get too wrapped up in the planning to do great things that we often don’t DO great things because we get overwhelmed from the get-go.

God has a much better idea!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

If we place our focus on God and trust Him, we will be exactly where we need to be!  The hard part is to be humble enough to get out of His way and allow Him to be in control!

So, as you dive into 2013, really give God the reigns and let me know where He leads!  It’s going to be a fabulous adventure!  Plus, Heaven is the prize!!!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 3:13-19 – Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. …

I love the Sharon Jaynes quote about glory. “Seeping in through the broken places”. Your blog is the second place I’ve seen the word “focus” today, and it’s not even noon….time for me to take note!!! And I love your list! Happy New Year, sweet friend!
