Sisters ROCK!

Happy Birthday to my sister, Rachael!!  Having her birthday fall on a day that I normally post GEM is a prime opportunity for me to talk about the joy of having sisters!!!  And more specifically…elaborate why I feel tremendously blessed to have MY sisters.

Anyone who knows me is well aware that I have three older, crazy, fun, loving and AMAZING sisters!  They each have phenomenal talents (such as organization, logic, craftiness and cooking – all of which I DO NOT HAVE) and most importantly they LOVE their little sister, Meg!  Hee, hee!

My mom will concur that I abhorred being called the baby when I was growing up.  However, at the ripe age of 39, I am perfectly content with my position in the sibling mix.

Of course, I have no clue what it would be like to not have sisters, so I’m basing my theory of “Sisters ROCK!” on pure bias and conjecture!  Yep, I’m throwing out my love for Google on this GEM and giving you Meg’s definition of sisterhood.

Basically, my sisters make me better.  They allow me to be myself with the added bonus of telling me I’m out in left field if that is required.  There is not a day that goes by where having sisters has not helped me in one way or another.  The best part is that I have partners in crime (okay, that may just mean eating ice cream at midnight) to laugh, cry, analyze and share all the important instances in life.

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.  Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

The three top reasons why I think my sisters ROCK are as follows:

My sisters call my bluff.  These women have an uncanny knowledge of when I’m full-fledged FULL of it!  They can spot a cover-up in a heartbeat and normally have me spilling my guts before I know what hit me.  I can’t tell you how many times one of my sisters has called me in the middle of a crisis.  More telling is that I start getting phone calls or texts when they haven’t heard from me for a while.

I love that they know me so well.  I enjoy having someone to talk to that can relate and encourage.  The older I get, the more I find that I want these ladies to keep me grounded and call my bluffs because I want to improve and reach my full potential.  I am lucky enough to have sisters cheering me along the way!

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1Thessalonians 5:11

My sisters protect my heart.   WOW!  I have learned so much from this fantastic trio.  Their examples have encouraged me to read scriptures, pray daily and give 200% in all situations.  They have truly led me down a path that has filled my heart with the love of Jesus Christ and for that I am eternally grateful.  Their prayers have placed a hedge of protection around me that has allowed me the time needed to get my act together and head down the right road.

I give them due credit for taking the time to instruct, edify and inspire me to follow my heart and use my talents for God’s glory.  I wouldn’t be writing GEM if it wasn’t for them.

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 1Peter 8-10

My sisters love me anyway.  Oh my.  What would I do without the support of my sisters?  They love me even when I don’t love myself.  They listen, they guide, they encourage and they support.  Their love is like no other and completely unconditional.  They get mad, they gripe, they moan…but they never go away.  Okay, so maybe it’s me getting mad, griping and moaning…but you get the picture!

For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 1John 3:11

God has given me a gift of three sisters and I want the world to know that I wouldn’t trade them for anything!!  These extraordinary women are not just my sisters:  they are my friends.  A girl couldn’t ask for more!

Love to Kelly, Heather and Rachael!!!

This really applies to me in my life right now & for my relationships with others. It’s hard to deal with bitter people but we have to believe we have something to offer & they have some redeeming qualities under it all. Loving others & being cheerful are full time challenges for me. Thanks for the encouragement! It’s nice to see ya’ll on Facebook.

    Love,
    Jennifer
