The First Day of Spring!!

It’s DO OVER time again!!!!

Have you fallen off the wagon that carried all of your 2012 resolutions to take action, be organized, eat healthier and be kinder?  Did you give up on making this year different because it started off being the same old, same old and now you find yourself on the first day of spring?

Does nothing ever change or do we concede defeat easily because change requires action and action then demands determination, focus and sacrifice?

If you’ve answered yes to any of the above…YOU ARE NOT ALONE.  I suffer from all of these issues and more.

My greatest obstacle is distraction.  I allow others or events to determine my path and I follow because I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings or worse…BE WRONG.  I am a sheep being led to slaughter (by today’s worldly views) and would rather GO than cause a raucous.

But wait!!  The first day of spring offers the promise of new life!  And more importantly, Jesus Christ promises a fresh existence through believing in him.

It is by His grace we can live with freedom because He has already overcome the world.  And Jesus invites us to join Him not because we are worthy, but because of His love for us.

God has always been about second chances!  Lots of them!!!  (The Lord knows I need as many chances as possible!!!)

“For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.”  Romans 7:18

I think God gave us springtime to remind us to shake off the cold, dreary days of winter and jump into His will with fresh new vigor.  Spring’s trees, grass, flowers, sunshine and rainbows are indicative of God’s continued love for us even though we turn from Him often and take the dead wintry path.

How can we make these changes starting today?

  1. Take a moment to list the blessings in your life (if you woke up this morning…that is a blessing).
  2. Spend some time in prayer thanking God for the above list of blessings in your life.
  3. Do something nice for someone else. (Share your blessings with others).

I welcome the first day of spring with a renewed focus to make the necessary changes to obey God’s top two commands:  to love God with all of my heart, soul and mind and to love my neighbor as myself.  (Check out Matthew 22:37-38)  I hope you will join me!

What items do you need to get started on today to accomplish your resolutions?  Would love to hear your thoughts!!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 21:2 – All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.
